Kathleen M. Basi, the Author of “Trust Falls” has written a captivating, heartfelt, and intriguing novel. The Genres for this novel are: Women’s Fiction, and Fiction. In this well written and developed story, Kathleen M. Basi describes the scenery, landscape, backdrop, plot/s, and dark, dramatic characters. After huge disappointments and set-backs, Charley Dupree returns to her family’s Christmas tree farm, which has represented tranquility, peace, and beauty. After secrets and betrayals, Charley doesn’t know if she can trust anyone, including herself. The farm is losing money, and the family will be looking at foreclosure. Charley doesn’t want to burden her mother, Penny, and worries for her friend Mark and his handicapped cousin Julian, who live in part of the adjacent house. Mark and Julian have built a small cottage on the property that will be used for guests to rent for income. One of the tenants, who is willing to pay an exorbitant sum of money is Maya Santora,a famous singer, who requires anonymity, and privacy. This becomes problematic for Charley, who is looking for other ways to get income.
I appreciate that the author discusses the importance of family, friends, loyalty, communication, trust, love and hope. The author also mentions contemporary issues such as betrayal, abandonment, disabilities, fertility, and sisterhood. I highly recommend this memorable novel.
