WOW! I have a confession to make. This is the second time in a few weeks that I read “Crazy To Leave You” by Marilyn Simon Rothstein. I just needed the pick-me-up in these crazy times, and I needed a feel good, heartwarming book with the distinctive wit that Marilyn Simon Rothstein gives us. Marilyn Simon Rothstein has a unique style of writing and is just a master in vividly describing situations with such charm and humor ! I highly recommend “Crazy to Leave You” and “Lift and Separate” and “Husbands and Other Sharp Objects”. I believe that Marilyn Simon Rothstein is a natural born comedian with a generous heart!
The Genres for this book are Romance, Humor, Jewish Fiction, Family Fiction, Sisters Fiction and Fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the events and characters. Most of the setting for this story takes place in New York City. The author describes her characters as DYSFUNCTIONAL, quirky, complicated and complex. I love that the author discusses the importance of family, sisters, friends, second chances, support systems, and self-worth!
The protagonist of the story, Lauren Leo, is extremely successful in her career, but not as lucky in her romantic life. Lauren, is 41 years old, and hears her biological clock ticking as she is waiting on her wedding day to get married. Unfortunately the groom texts her sister to mention he will not be there. Lauren sits across the street in a diner watching the guests leave the almost wedding.
The author writes in some laugh out-loud moments, how Lauren’s dysfunctional family plays a huge part in her growth and self acceptance.. Is anyone perfect? Just view Lauren’s family!! I highly recommend this amazing, entertaining, and memorable novel to others! I can’t wait to see what Marilyn Simon Rothstein is writing next!! Happy Reading!
