WOW! A.S. King, the Author of “PICK THE LOCK” has written a powerful and unique novel. This is certainly a one of a kind book that is different from anything that I have read this year! The Genres for this book are : Fantasy, Thriller, Urban Fantasy, Magical Realism, Contemporary, and Psychological Thriller. This book is stated to be for adolescent readers, and adults, that is a decision for you to make. I certainly was captivated, and the author vividly describes her terrifying scenes, and toxic and dramatic characters. Jane, the protagonist is on a self journey, and also wants to reconnect with her mother. There is music, punk rock and an opera that recounts the story. The setting is in a Victorian house, and Jane and her brother are home schooled by their eccentric father. Their quirky and unstable aunt is present, and the cook and gardener with his pet rat are there as well.

Jane’s mother is away on business, or “locked “ in her own world in the house. This is really a toxic environment. Did I mention that everything is not what it seems to be? There seems to be a menacing and threatening presence. There is also shapeshifting, twists and turns, danger, and unbelievable events. I recommend this unusual novel.
