Meghana Karanjkar, the Author of “First Generation” has written an intriguing, unusual and poignant book. There are different chapters, which are stories or essays (fictional). The stories are really not relatable or continuous to each other, nor are they happily ever after type stories. The characters are not repetitive or related, either. I felt that some of the stories were thought-provoking, and left me in a reflective mood. This book has different stories. some with surprising endings. This is the perfect book to take with you, when you have an appointment and are waiting. I appreciate how the Author writes about different people, immigrants, people feeling like outsiders, characters looking to belong, and looking for whatever and wherever home is. I would recommend this unique book.
